The Revenue has issued a reminder that the deadline for discharging the 2019 local property tax is 10 January 2019 if paying by cash, cheque, credit card or debit card. If you instead choose to pay the charge by a single debit authority, you must also inform the Revenue of such selection by 10 January 2019. 
If you are intending to pay the LPT charge by phased payments over the year, you should have notified the Revenue of such intention by 25 November 2018.
If you are planning on selling your property during 2019, it will be a condition of the sale completing that you discharge all local property tax owing on the property before completion as the tax remains a charge on the property until paid. A purchaser will not accept the property without that charge been removed before completion to ensure good marketable title is acquired.
